2JZ-GTE overview
If you are searching for a legendary 2JZ engine for sale, you know exactly what this beauty is. The Toyota 2JZ-GTE is arguably the most globally famous straight-six engine ever built, flawlessly powering the iconic Mk4 Supra and completely changing underground car culture forever. This engine is basically bulletproof right from the factory floor, featuring a massive closed-deck cast iron block, strong forged internals, and factory oil squirters to keep things cool. We import these motors directly from Japan with incredibly low verified mileage. Do not settle for weak imitations when you can own the real deal.
Specifications
- 3.0-liter inline-six, cast-iron block
- Dual overhead cams, four valves per cylinder
- Sequential twin-turbocharger setup from the factory
- Rated around 276 horsepower stock, capable of 600+ with bolt-ons and a good tune
- 8.5:1 compression ratio, ideal for aftermarket boost
What's included
We deeply want your upcoming engine swap to be as easy as possible. Every purchase includes a very complete long block package:
- Main engine block and complete cylinder head
- Factory valve covers, sequential twin turbos, and heavy cast exhaust manifold
- Factory intake manifold, OEM fuel rail, and factory injectors
- Functioning alternator and power steering pump left attached for convenience
Please note that the wiring harness and ECU are sold separately unless explicitly stated on the page. You are getting a highly complete swap engine that saves you massive time and money. Just uncrate it, prep your chassis, and get to work.
Fitment & compatibility (Supra, Aristo, IS300)
This engine natively belongs in the JZA80 Supra and JZS147 Aristo, and an IS300 swap is common and well documented. It's also dropped into Nissan 240SXs, BMW E36s, and even Mazda RX-7s. Aftermarket support is massive, so swap kits are easy to find. You'll need custom motor mounts and a standalone ECU. Note that Aristo motors use front sumps while Supras use rear sumps.
VVTi vs non-VVTi
We very often stock both versions of this legendary motor.
- The early non-VVTi 2JZ is highly prized specifically for its slightly stronger factory connecting rods, making it the classic choice for builders chasing extreme four-digit horsepower numbers.
- The later VVTi version was introduced in the late nineties to massively improve emissions and low-end torque. The variable valve timing system makes the turbos spool up much faster for amazing street performance. While the VVTi rods are admittedly slightly weaker, they still handle massive power without breaking a sweat.
Both versions are utter masterpieces of Japanese engineering, so carefully check the specific product title to see which variant you are currently viewing. You literally cannot go wrong with either option.
Inspection, warranty & shipping
Before any 2JZ long block leaves our warehouse, it's scrutinized by our expert team at JDM State Motors of NC. We check timing belt condition, visual damage, and run a strict leak-down test. We provide exact compression numbers so you know the motor is healthy, backed by our standard startup warranty. It ships via fast, fully insured freight, strapped to a custom wooden pallet.
Product FAQ
How much boost can the stock twin turbos handle?
The factory ceramic turbos on JDM engines are slightly fragile at very high boost levels. It is highly recommended to strictly keep them under 14 psi to ensure they last a very long time.
Does this engine come with a manual transmission?
This particular listing is explicitly for the long block engine only. If you desperately need a V160 or R154 manual transmission, please check our drivetrain section for stock availability.
Is it difficult to convert an Aristo front sump to a rear sump?
It is actually an incredibly straightforward process for any builder. You simply just need to purchase a rear sump oil pan, pickup tube, and oil baffle from a Supra to bolt right on.
