Emissions-Regulated States

California (CA), New York (NY), Massachusetts (MA), Connecticut (CT), Rhode Island (RI), Washington (WA), Oregon (OR), Vermont (VT), Maine (ME), New Jersey (NJ), Maryland (MD), Pennsylvania (PA), Delaware (DE), Colorado (CO), Virginia (VA), Minnesota (MN), and Nevada (NV) have adopted California Air Resources Board (CARB) emissions standards or their own state-level emissions regulations.

JDM engines are manufactured to Japanese domestic market specifications and may not meet U.S. EPA or CARB emissions standards. It is your sole responsibility to verify emissions compliance with your state's DMV, a licensed emissions inspector, or a qualified mechanic before purchasing and installing a JDM engine. When you contact us from one of these states, our team can provide all available import and engine documentation to assist your evaluation.

Texas (TX) Buyers

Texas requires that replacement engines installed in emissions-tested vehicles meet the same model year or newer emissions standard as the original engine. Buyers in Texas should confirm year-of-manufacture compatibility before purchasing a JDM engine for a vehicle subject to Texas emissions testing. Contact us with your vehicle details and we will assist with available documentation.

Do you ship to my state? Do you ship internationally?

We ship to all 50 U.S. states, including Alaska and Hawaii. We do not accept or fulfill international orders under any circumstances. All shipments originate from our warehouse in Garner, North Carolina. Freight deliveries require a valid U.S. address and an available receiver for curbside delivery. How do I know which engine fits my vehicle?

To confirm fitment, we need your vehicle's year, make, model, trim level, and current engine code (found on the engine block or in your owner's manual). For swap builds, we also need the target engine code. Contact us with these details and our JDM specialists will confirm whether the unit in our current inventory is the right match. Do not purchase without confirming compatibility first.

What is the mileage on your JDM engines?

JDM engines typically carry lower mileage than comparable domestic-market used engines because Japan's strict domestic vehicle regulations incentivize early retirement of vehicles. When mileage documentation is available from the Japanese supplier, it is disclosed in the individual product listing. Where documentation is not available, the listing states this clearly. All engines are compression tested before listing to verify internal condition regardless of mileage documentation.

Can I return or get a refund on a JDM engine or part?

Return and refund eligibility is governed by our published Refund Policy. Used automotive parts are sold in as-is condition unless an explicit warranty applies to that specific listing. If a part you received does not match its listed description, contact us immediately with your order number and documentation of the issue. We will evaluate all misrepresentation claims and resolve them according to our policy.

Will a JDM engine pass emissions in my state?

JDM State Motors of NC does not warrant or guarantee that any JDM engine will pass emissions testing in any U.S. state. JDM engines are built to Japanese specifications, which differ from U.S. EPA and CARB standards. Whether an engine passes emissions testing in your state depends on your state's specific requirements, your vehicle's year, and the specific engine. We strongly recommend consulting your state DMV or a licensed emissions inspector before purchasing. We can provide all available import documentation upon request.

How long does shipping take and who delivers the engines?

Engines and transmissions are shipped via freight carrier to your specified U.S. address. Estimated transit times and carrier information are outlined in our Shipping Policy. Tracking information is provided when your order is dispatched. Freight deliveries are curbside, meaning the carrier will deliver to the curb outside your address — someone must be present to accept the delivery. Any shipping damage must be noted on the carrier's delivery receipt at the time of delivery.

Can I cancel my order after placing it?

Cancellation requests should be submitted as soon as possible. Once an order has been prepared for shipment, cancellation may not be possible.
