We sell used JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) automotive parts and components sourced directly from Japan. Because every part is a pre-owned mechanical item with unique wear characteristics, we have established the following clear return and refund guidelines so you know exactly what to expect — before you buy.

Return Window

You have 30 calendar days from the date your order is delivered to initiate a return. Requests received after this window will not be accepted.

Item Condition

Items must be returned in the same condition as received — uninstalled, unmodified, and with all original packaging. Installed, altered, or damaged parts are not eligible.

Return Shipping

Customer pays return shipping for change-of-mind returns. We cover return shipping only when the error is ours — wrong item sent or item arrived damaged.

Refund Timeline

Once we receive and inspect your return, refunds are processed within 5–10 business days back to your original payment method.

Important: Understanding What You Are Buying

JDM State Motors of NC LLC sells used automotive parts and components imported from Japan. Every item sold on our website is a pre-owned mechanical part unless the individual product listing explicitly states otherwise. Used automotive parts, by their very nature, carry wear consistent with prior vehicle use — this may include surface oxidation, minor scuffs, grease or oil residue, or other cosmetic marks that are entirely normal and expected for used mechanical components.

Normal wear and tear on a used part does not constitute a defect. If the item you received matches the description and photos in the product listing, it is not eligible for a return solely because it shows signs of prior use. We encourage all buyers to read the product description thoroughly, review all provided photographs, and contact us with any compatibility or condition questions before completing your purchase.

Section 1

Return Eligibility & Accepted Conditions


Eligible for Return

  • Item received within the last 30 calendar days from the delivery date
  • Item is in the exact same condition as when it was delivered — uninstalled and unmodified
  • All original packaging, protective wrapping, and any included hardware or accessories are present
  • Item was not purchased under the "Final Sale" or "As-Is / Clearance" designation
  • A valid Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number has been issued by us prior to shipping the item back

Not Eligible for Return

  • Item has been installed, attempted to be installed, or fitted to any vehicle
  • Item has been modified, disassembled, cut, welded, or altered in any way after delivery
  • Return request is submitted more than 30 calendar days after the confirmed delivery date
  • Item was listed and sold as "Final Sale," "As-Is," "Clearance," or "Non-Returnable" in the product listing
  • Damage was caused by customer mishandling, improper storage, or installation error
  • Item shows normal wear and tear consistent with its used/pre-owned status as described in the listing
  • Return is attempted without an authorized RMA number from our team

Return Reasons & Shipping Cost Responsibility


Who covers the cost of returning an item depends on the reason for the return. We have two distinct categories below. Please identify which applies to your situation before contacting us.

Our Error / Damaged in Transit

We Cover Return Shipping

If we sent you the wrong item (different part number, wrong vehicle fitment, wrong quantity) or if your item arrived significantly damaged during shipping (not normal used-part wear), we will cover 100% of the return shipping cost and provide a prepaid return label.

  • Wrong part number or SKU sent
  • Item substantially different from the listing description or photos
  • Transit damage that renders the part non-functional (must be documented with photos)

Change of Mind / Compatibility Issue

Customer Covers Return Shipping

If you are returning an item because you ordered the wrong part, changed your mind, found a better price elsewhere, or realized the part does not fit your specific vehicle (a compatibility issue you are responsible for verifying), the cost of return shipping is your responsibility.

  • Ordered incorrect part number by mistake
  • Part does not fit your vehicle due to customer's own fitment error
  • No longer needed or simply changed mind about the purchase

Return Shipping Address: All approved returns must be shipped to our physical warehouse location: JDM State Motors of NC LLC, 1334 Bobbitt Dr., Garner, North Carolina 27529, United States. Do not ship to any other address. Items shipped to any other address without prior authorization cannot be processed and will not be refunded.

Section 3

How to Initiate a Return


To begin the return process, follow these steps carefully. Sending an item back without completing these steps may result in your return being refused and the item returned to you at your expense.

Submit Photos

Attach clear photos of the item received, including all sides and any damage or discrepancy, so we can assess your claim.

Receive RMA

If approved, you will receive a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and return instructions within 1–3 business days.

Ship It Back

Pack the item securely, write the RMA number on the outside of the package, and ship to our Garner, NC address using a trackable carrier.

Inspection

Once received, we inspect the item within 1–3 business days to confirm it matches the approved return condition.

Refund Issued

Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days and returned to your original payment method.

Important: We strongly recommend using a trackable shipping service such as UPS, FedEx, or USPS Priority Mail with tracking. JDM State Motors of NC LLC is not responsible for return packages that are lost or damaged in transit. You assume all risk of loss for items being returned until they are physically received at our warehouse. We recommend keeping your tracking number until your refund is confirmed.

Section 4

Non-Returnable Items & Final Sale Exceptions


Certain items are explicitly excluded from our standard return policy due to their nature, condition, or the way they were sold. These exclusions are disclosed clearly in the product listing prior to purchase. By completing a purchase involving any of the following item types, you acknowledge and accept that the sale is final.

Installed or Attempted-Install Parts

Any part that has been installed on a vehicle, even briefly, or shows evidence of attempted installation (scratches from tools, bolt marks, wiring connection traces) is permanently excluded from return eligibility.

Final Sale / As-Is / Clearance Items

Any product listed with the designation "Final Sale," "As-Is," "Non-Returnable," or "Clearance" in its title or product description is sold with no return option. This designation is clearly stated before checkout.

Customer-Damaged Items

Parts that have been damaged due to improper handling, incorrect storage, exposure to moisture, or misuse after delivery are not eligible for return or refund.

Parts with Emissions / Legal Compliance Restrictions

Customers are solely responsible for verifying that purchased parts comply with their state's emissions and vehicle modification laws before ordering. Parts cannot be returned solely because they do not meet your state's regulations.

Returns Submitted After 30 Days

Return requests submitted more than 30 calendar days after the confirmed delivery date will be declined, regardless of the reason. The 30-day window is a firm deadline.

Missing Original Packaging or Components

Items returned without their original packaging, protective materials, or any included hardware, brackets, sensors, or accessories that were shipped with the part may be subject to a restocking deduction or full refusal.

Section 5

How Refunds Are Issued


Once your returned item has been received at our warehouse and passes inspection, refunds are processed promptly. Here is exactly how and when refunds are issued.

Refund Method

All refunds are issued to the original payment method used at the time of purchase — whether that is a credit card, debit card, or other payment form accepted through our Shopify checkout. We do not issue refunds as store credit or gift cards unless you specifically request that option in writing.

Refund Timeline

Once the returned item has been inspected and approved, we initiate the refund within 5–10 business days. After we initiate it, your bank or card issuer may take an additional 3–7 business days to post the credit to your account. Total time from item receipt to refund visible in your account is typically 7–17 business days.

Refund Confirmation

You will receive an email confirmation once your refund has been initiated on our end. If you do not receive a refund confirmation email within 10 business days of us receiving your return, please contact us at jdmstatemotorsofnc@gmail.com.

Partial Refunds

In situations where a returned item is received in a condition that differs from what was agreed — for example, missing minor hardware that was included, or showing minor handling marks not present when shipped — we reserve the right to issue a partial refund reflecting the reduction in item value. We will communicate this to you before processing.

Original Shipping Fees

Original outbound shipping charges are non-refundable in the case of change-of-mind or customer-error returns. If the return is due to our mistake (wrong item, significant damage), the original shipping fee will also be refunded in full.

Declined Returns

If a returned item arrives and does not meet the agreed return conditions (installed, damaged beyond what was present at delivery, missing components), we will notify you and arrange to ship the item back to you. No refund will be issued and return shipping fees will be charged to you.

Section 6

Exchanges


We do not process direct exchanges (swapping one part for another). Because our inventory consists of individual used JDM parts — many of which are one-of-a-kind — we cannot hold a replacement item while waiting for your original to be returned.

If you need a different part, the fastest process is:

  1. Initiate a return for the original item following the steps in Section 3 above.
  2. Place a new, separate order for the correct item you need.
  3. Receive your refund on the original item once it is returned and inspected.

Why No Direct Exchanges?

All of our inventory is sourced individually from Japan. Each part has its own unique specifications, mileage documentation, and condition profile. Because there is rarely a second identical item available at the same time, we cannot guarantee a matching replacement, making a formal exchange process impractical.

This approach also ensures that popular parts are not unnecessarily held off sale while waiting for a return to arrive, which keeps our pricing competitive and inventory available for all customers.

Section 7

Damaged in Transit or Incorrect Item Received


We take great care in packaging every item for safe transit. However, shipping damage can occasionally occur, and human error in fulfillment is possible. If either of these situations applies to your order, here is exactly what to do.

Item Arrived Damaged

If your item was damaged during shipping — meaning it arrived in a condition significantly worse than what was shown in the listing photos — you must notify us within 48 hours of delivery.

Do not discard the original packaging. Carriers require both the item and original packaging to process a damage claim.

Email us at jdmstatemotorsofnc@gmail.com with your order number, a description of the damage, and clear photographs showing the damage to both the item and the packaging. We will file the carrier claim on your behalf and arrange a full refund or replacement at no cost to you.

Received the Wrong Item

If you received an item that is clearly different from what you ordered (different part number, wrong fitment, wrong product entirely), contact us immediately at jdmstatemotorsofnc@gmail.com with your order number and photos of the item received.

We will issue a prepaid return shipping label and, upon receipt and verification of the wrong item, either ship the correct item (if still in inventory) or process a full refund including original shipping.

Please note: A "wrong item" claim applies when we sent a different SKU than what was ordered. It does not apply if you ordered the wrong part for your vehicle — that falls under the buyer's own verification responsibility.

Photo Evidence Requirement: All damage and wrong-item claims must be supported by photographic evidence submitted to us within the required timeframe. Claims submitted without photos, or more than 48 hours after delivery for damage claims, may not be honored. We use delivery confirmation timestamps from the carrier as the reference point for delivery date.

Section 8

US State-Specific Consumer Rights


We ship to all 50 US states. Consumer protection laws vary by state. Our policy is designed to meet or exceed the minimum requirements of applicable state law. The following highlights key state-specific protections that may apply to your purchase.

California (CA) — Song-Beverly Act

California's Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act provides broad implied warranty protections on consumer goods. For used goods sold by a dealer, the implied warranty of merchantability typically covers a period of at minimum 30 days. Our 30-day return policy is structured to be fully consistent with California consumer protection standards. New York (NY)

New York General Business Law Section 218-a requires that retail merchants post their return policy clearly before purchase. Our policy is accessible directly from every product page and checkout page on our website. NY buyers purchasing used goods are protected under UCC Article 2 implied warranty provisions unless goods are sold "As-Is" with conspicuous disclosure, which we provide in all applicable listings.

Texas (TX)

Under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA), consumers have the right to pursue remedies for misrepresentation of goods. We take great care to describe all item conditions accurately in product listings. Texas buyers may contact the Texas Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division if they believe a representation was materially false.

Florida (FL)

Florida's consumer protection laws under the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA) prohibit unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts in commerce. Our listings provide detailed condition descriptions and photos. Florida buyers who believe they received materially misrepresented goods may contact the Florida Attorney General's Office.

North Carolina (NC) — Home State

As a North Carolina LLC, we are subject to the NC Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act (NCGS §75-1.1). We are committed to honest, non-deceptive descriptions of all products. NC customers may also contact the NC Department of Justice Consumer Protection Division at 1-877-5-NO-SCAM. Our business is registered in NC, EIN 93-4377095.

Washington (WA), Oregon (OR), Colorado (CO)

These states have strong consumer protection acts that prohibit deceptive sales practices and require clear disclosure of item condition and return terms. All three states' laws are satisfied by our explicit written return policy, condition disclosures in each product listing, and accessible policy page. Colorado residents: note that Colorado HB21-1110 provides additional protections regarding vehicle part emissions compliance.

All Other US States

Regardless of the state you reside in, you are protected by the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule, which requires us to ship within the timeframe stated or offer a full refund. You are also protected by FTC consumer protection regulations governing online merchants, fair billing practices, and accurate product representation. Our policy is designed to be compliant with federal standards that apply in all 50 states and US territories.

Chargeback & Credit Card Dispute Rights

Regardless of your state, if you paid by credit or debit card, you have the right to file a chargeback with your card issuer under the Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA) for unauthorized charges, items significantly not as described, or items never received. We strongly encourage contacting us first to resolve disputes directly, as we are committed to fair and transparent resolutions for every customer.

Section 9

Order Cancellations


We begin processing orders quickly after they are placed to ensure fast dispatch. Cancellation requests are time-sensitive and subject to the following conditions:

Before Shipment: If your order has not yet been shipped, we will do our best to cancel it upon request. Contact us immediately at jdmstatemotorsofnc@gmail.com or +1 (919) 803-0095 with your order number. If successfully cancelled before shipment, a full refund will be issued within 5–10 business days.

After Shipment: Once an order has been shipped and a tracking number has been issued, it cannot be cancelled. You must receive the item and then follow the standard return process outlined in Section 3 of this policy. See our full Cancellation Policy for complete details.

Cancellation Quick Reference

Section 10

Return Fraud & Abuse Prevention


We are committed to a fair and honest returns process for every customer. To protect all buyers and maintain the integrity of our business, we maintain the right to investigate and decline returns that show signs of misuse or fraud, including but not limited to:

  • Returning a different item than what was sent (parts switching)
  • Filing false damage claims to obtain refunds without legitimate cause
  • Claiming an item was not received when delivery confirmation shows it was delivered
  • Installing a part and then returning it as if it had never been used
  • Initiating unjustified payment disputes or chargebacks without first contacting us
  • Repeated return requests from the same customer without valid reason

Customers found engaging in fraudulent return behavior may be permanently blocked from future purchases on our store. We document all returns with photographs and track return history. We also cooperate with payment processors, carriers, and law enforcement when return fraud or theft is suspected.
